The 43rd edition of Miss Nigeria which took place on Saturday at the Eko Convention Centre crowned Beauty Etsanyi Tukura (Miss Taraba) as the new queen.
She was chosen as the winner out of 38 girls by the judges including Rita Dominic, Ike Onyema, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, and Tara Durotoye.
The contestants performed a dance number at the beginning of the show and also competed in native wear and evening gown categories. Out of which the top 16 finalists were chosen. There was also a question and answer round which determined the winner of the competition.
The event in itself was a funfair which was beautifully hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Lala Akindoju. Musical performances from D’banj and Bigiano got the crowd going. Opening remarks and speeches were given by The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and also the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen. The First lady of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu sent a representative to give an address to the audience and contestants.
The 43rd Miss Nigeria, Beauty Etsanyi Tukura also took home the prize of a new car and a luxury apartment. She is also charged with the responsibility to be a good role model and work towards the empowerment of girls and women in Nigeria.
