Heeled Flip Flops: This Controversial Shoe Trend is Here to Stay

The heeled flip flop trend atrated out in the ’90s and early 2000s. Celebrities like Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian have recently embraced the trend. Initially grouped as part of the ugly shoe trend, people are becoming receptive of this upgrade from the basic, sometimes neon rubber flip flops. This trend seemed to have started when regular flip flops became acceptable as a piece of every day wear.

The fashion world jumped to this trend with Saint Laurent collaborating on a high end beach flip flops. They also started appearing on runways of top designers like Isabel Marant and Alexander Wang. Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour gave her stamp of approval admitting that she loves a good flip flop.

They are comfortable, light weight and have a heel which is a win for everyone. It is that in-between style that you can wear to the grocery store and confidently wear to a dinner later that evening. The trend was also spotted  on more than twenty women at the Copenhagen Fashion Week last year.

Introducing the heeled flip flops aka adult flip flops. Ahead is some inspiration on how the trend can be styled.
